We learned Spanish in high school, plus my mom was from Honduras. In Alabama they can learn Spanish or German as we have a lot of German influence and companies in the area.

ankhamun, come on ... we can talk ruslish then
welcome to the board!
how come you´ve seen that match? on purpose?and yes, generally the inhabitants of this city do expect wonders everyday. that starts with traffic jams, road blocking due to work sites and ends with football (or soccer as you say) and the common knowledge that our team is always the best but if they lose, everybody knows best.... :grinsen:
at least you can find here some real football fans at heart!
Happosai: exactly that one? i´m running scared then
Why did I watch that match? It isn't often a 2. Bundesliga team is on US media, so even if it was only available online, I had to find a way to watch. Plus I was on vacation.
Also, I don't like Schalke - although I have met Ebbe Sand, I just assume he played for the wrong team.
Christine - a very long time ago, my friends and I went to Houston on a road trip. Some woman interviewed my friend about a movie that was coming out "Christine". She asked "Do you think you would recommend this movie to your friends?" while we were basically standing there and could hear everything. He says "Sure, I'd recommend it", my other friend says "Not to these friends!" even the woman laughed.
Later we were playing basketball and the guy was trying to defend his comments about the movie "What would you do if a car without a driver was coming after you?"
The response "I'd just jump up and fly away"
The game ended out of laughter.

Klappstuhl - nice video. Lothar's English is pretty good. Way better than my German that is certain.==
Quick question - where did the money come from to buy Paul Verhaegh? -
He joined the Club 2006.
Augsburger people always expect more success while spending less money.
They expect miracles then. Poor guy has built a very solid club, and on the edge of promotion, and they want more. Wow.
Thanks for the input.

most people are your opinion about A. Rettig, but of course there are also people, who don't like him and his work.
What do they expect? How long has he been at the club?
-
Well my favorite EPL is West Ham United. Been supporting them since 1995.
I'm from New Orleans so I have a tendency to support clubs that are in for the struggle. Victory is so much sweeter after the struggle. I posted this video on Facebook, not sure how to post youtubes over here, so here goes>

I like clubs that develop players, have great support, and don't buy their championships. Also like clubs that are friendly to Americans, but that's a bit tricky to find out. One thing I have learned, the 2nd Bundesliga plays really good football. Better than most other countries top leagues. Plus the support is so strong.
By the way, ESPN is showing the Germany v Argentina World Cup game, I like how this one turns out :grinsen:

Happosai nice avatar by the way.

How do the fans rate the job Rettig is doing? Seems to me that he's doing a very good job.
Also when all the injured players the club will be ready to push for that automatic promotion spot.

I do like Russian hockey
Ovechkin, Semin, Varlamov all play for the Washington Capitals, my favorite hockey team.

Thank you.
Where from?
Good question...
originally from New Orleans, moved in 2002 - before Katrina, to Central Connecticut in New England. Lived their for six years and moved to Alabama about 3 years ago. -
Hi everyone,
First, I want to thanks the FC Augusburg facebook people for helping me get on the forum. I have been waiting a week to get on here.
Second, As I mentioned on FB, I got to watch last week's cup game against Schalke 04 on ESPN3 (online) and it was great. Your crowd was inspiring, your voices were loud and your team played a very good game. I was begging for Thurk's shot to go in, but Neuer was/is a beast of a goalkeeper.
My friend used to live in Bavaria and she always has good things to say about your town.
I have never been to your town, but as I search for a German team to support, FC Augsburg is now on my short list.
So if you don't mind I will post my questions on this thread and hope you indulge my questions, comments and thoughts.
Good luck the rest of the season, I hope to see FC Augsburg in the 1st Bundesliga.
Danke,
